I’ve been using the pulp from Vanilla Beans to make my goodies with (instead of Vanilla extract). That leaves lots of empty pods, so instead of throwing them away, I’ve saved them, cut them up, and put them into an air tight jar, covered with Vodka.
I’ll let you know in a few weeks time what the extract is like.
In the mean time, I find that buying Vanilla Pods from the supermarket is extortionate, so I’ve been ordering from eBay. Try:

The pods work out as little as 20-25pence each, as opposed to 2 for £2 in Sainsbury’s!
Using the pulp is so much better than using shop bought extract.
